The Derek Douget Band
Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 7:30 PMThe Lobero is thrilled to welcome back accomplished saxophonist Derek Douget for the Brubeck Jazz Residency Program. Derek and his collaborators are scheduled to embark on a busy week-long tour across Santa Barbara, providing customized in-classroom instruction to jazz students from junior high through college. Douget will then cap off the week with a performance at the Lobero on Saturday evening and will be joined on stage by Ashlin Parker (trumpet), Victor Atkins, (piano), Jason Stewart (bass), and Adonis Rose (drums).
As one of Downbeat magazine’s Top Jazz Venues for more than a decade, the Lobero sits in a unique position to support future generations of jazz musicians. The Brubeck Jazz Residency Program consists of twelve hands-on workshops with more than 350 students in just five days. There will also be a student “jam session” open to all jazz music students from schools county-wide, followed by a public performance on the Lobero stage, for which all students are offered complimentary tickets. The true benefit of visiting the same schools with the same artists year-after-year is that we are building relationships and can follow the progress of the most engaged students.
